[New Feature] Management | Australian Stud Book data now available when adding horses

Release Date: 21 August 2020

When adding new horses into your Prism database, you can now choose to populate horse data from the Australian Stud Book (ASB).

Adding a named horse

In the Add Horse screen, start entering the horse's name and select the appropriate horse and it's foal date from the list dynamically displayed.

A pop-up message will ask you if you wish to automatically populate data from the ASB *.

Select Yes to populate the following details automatically (or select No to populate manualy instead).
  1. Sire;
  2. Dam;
  3. Foal Date;
  4. Near Side Brand (text and image);
  5. Off Side Brand; and
  6. Microchip number
Note that you will have to specify the sex of the horse, and please check the Country of Origin.

* Please note that this is a paid service provided by the ASB who charge $1.87+GST per horse extraction. If you choose to add your horse this way, you will be oncharged this fee as part of your monthly billing.

If you already have your horse's brand image and details, then you can add these manually for no charge - see  how to do that here

Adding an unnamed horse

In the Dam field, start entering the horse's Dam, then select the appropriate dam from the dynamic list.

In the Sire field, a list of all Sires of any foal of the Dam you selected, will display. Select the Sire of the horse you are adding.

If there is just one foal for the Sire and Dam you have selected, a pop-up message will ask you if you wish to automatically populate data from the ASB *.

If there is more than one foal for the Sire and Dan you have selected, click on the Foal Date field and select the relevant foal date of your horse. The pop-up message will then ask you if you wish to automaically populate data from the ASB *.

In either case, select Yes to populate the following data (or select No to populate manualy instead).
  1. Foal Date;
  2. Near Side Brand (text and image);
  3. Off Side Brand; and
  4. Microchip number.
Note that you will have to specify the sex of the horse, and please check the Country of Origin.

* Please note that this is a paid service provided by the ASB who charge $1.87+GST per horse extraction. If you choose to add your horse this way, you will be oncharged this fee as part of your monthly billing. If you already have your horse's brand image and other details, you can add these manually for no charge - see  how to do that here

Note: This horse data is only available for horses in the Australian Stud Book.
