Connect a bluetooth-enabled thermometer to your Prism PLUS app

You can connect bluetooth-enabled thermometers to your Prism PLUS Mobile and Tablet Apps.

1. On your Prism PLUS Mobile App, click on More in the bottom right of screen. Then choose Device Config. 

2. Remove the thermometer from its power base and the thermometer ID will appear, ready to connect.
If your thermometer ID is not displaying on screen, return it to its power base and then remove it. This is what triggers the bluetooth connection.
3. Select the thermometer ID and click Connect.


Once your thermometer is connected to your Prism PLUS App, the temperature from the thermometer will 'stream' to the Prism PLUS Horse Temp Note screen.

Please follow your stable or farms Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) when recording a horse's temperature. The following can be used as a guide to refine those procedures for your operation, to ensure safety when handling your horse.
  1. Select TEMP NOTE shortcut and select the horse you wish to record a temperature for.
  2. Return your phone to your pocket.
  3. Lubricate the end of the thermometer with soapy water or other lubricant.
  4. Stand to the near side, close to the horse to avoid being kicked. Make sure the horse knows you are there.
  5. Lift the tail and gently insert the thermometer into the horse’s rectum. Make sure the tip of the thermometer rests against the rectal wall (and make sure it is not inserted into dung).
  6. Hold the end of the thermometer to stop it disappearing up the rectum.
  7. Wait 30 seconds before removing the thermometer. This time is typically required for thermometers to reliable record a stabilised temperature reading.
  8. Move clear of your horse and retrieve your phone to read the temperature reading in the Horse Temp Note screen.
  9. Click Save to record the temperature note.
