How to add a new horse

How to add a Horse

There are two scenarios for adding a new horse to your Prism portal:
  1. Add a Named Horse, where you search by the horse's name or part of its name;
  2. Add an Unnamed Horse, where you search first by the horse's dam, then by its sire.
Both of these actions are performed in the Create Horse screen, accessible via one of two ways:
  1. Click on the green  button, then select Add Horse; or
  2. From the Horse menu, click on the New Horse button

Search Named Horse

If you wish to enter a named horse, enter the horse's name or part of the horse's name. Wait for the lookup to the Australian Stud Book returns a list of named horses that meets your search, then select the correct horse (foal date is shown).

The following information will be populated from our Australian Stud Book lookup:
  1. Sire, Dam and Foal Date
  2. Colour, Microchip and Sex
  3. Near Side Brand (text and image)
  4. Off Side Brand (text)

Search Unnamed Horse

If you wish to enter an unnamed horse, enter the horse's date of birth (Foaled Date) then enter the dam or part of the horse's dam name. Wait for the lookup to the Australian Stud Book returns a list of dams that meets your search, then select the correct dam (foal date is shown).

Then click in the SIRE box. All Sires of any foal out of the dam you selected, will appear.

Select the sire of the unnamed horse you wish to add.

The following information will be populated from our Australian Stud Book lookup:
  1. Sire, Dam and Foal Date
  2. Colour, Microchip and Sex
