Scan a horse microchip to select a horse on Prism PLUS App
There are three ways to select a horse on the Prism PLUS Tablet App.
- Manually filter and select your desired horse;
- Scan a QR Code on either a Barn/Paddock, Box or Horse Card; or
- Scan a horse microchip with a bluetooth connected microchip scanner.
This article details how to scan a horse microchip.
Connect to a bluetooth-enabled microchip scanner
On your Prism PLUS Tablet App, click on your avatar profile in the top right of the screen. Then select Device Config.
Turn on your handheld microchip scanner and ensure it it within range of your tablet app (typically within 4-5 metres). The device should appear in the list of devices.
Select the device (Prism issues handheld scanners will appear as "REALTRACE").
Click Connect.
A confirmation message will display.
Scan a horse microchip
Ensure you are within bluetooth range of your tablet app when scanning a horse.
Almost immediately, the horse will appear on your tablet screen to proceed with your activities.
If the horse does not exist in your Prism portal, the following message will display. Please add the horse to your portal and include the microchip number (this is automatically added to the horse profile if selecting a horse from the Australian Stud Book lookup).
In 2023 we are working towards improving the Check In / Check Out action to allow you to add a horse to your Prism portal, upon scanning.
